About Sheila Burnett:

As Diane Morrison, Executive Director of the Ottawa Mission says so eloquently, “Over the last eighteen years of friendship with Sheila I have never known anyone with the kind of heart that she has for the down trodden and poor of spirit.  She has not only been my mentor but so many people’s mentor when it came to what you need to know and feel for the kind of work we do.  You know, clients can pick up pretty quickly whether or not you are genuine and they know as soon as they meet Sheila how much she truly cares for them.”

Sheila describes herself humbly as selfish in her being because she is exactly where she needs to be.  She believes that she receives much, much more than she gives back working with the poor. It is her calling and her honour to serve those that so many others have forgotten.

When it comes to original thinking not many can match the way Sheila’s mind works. When others question WHY she finds the WHY NOT.  The impossible is only a challenge.  She can see her vision and will not be deterred.  Her greatest strength is in her unwavering determination to make her vision for the poor, sick and lonely a reality.  This vision of acceptance for anyone who will come to Shepherds of Good Hope is all encompassing for this woman of enormous compassion.
